Welding and brazing certification
Standards for welding, brazing and other similar procedures, as well as harmonized standards for testing of welds and testing of soldering joints are the basis for almost all technical specifications, testing and inspections procedures and execution of metallic construction works.
To insure the quality on welded products, welding and brazing personnel has to fulfil several qualifications and certifications based on international standards.
Following Standards are applicable: EN 287, EN ISO 9606 & 15609 for welding procedure instructions (WPS), and EN 13133 for brazing procedure instructions (BPS)
The welder candidate has to pass a manual skill test, which is the basis for the certification. TÜV AUSTRIA CERT nominated as accredited certification body is utilising qualified testing institutes or qualified inspectors for this test. Normally this is one of the accredited inspection departments of the TÜV AUSTRIA Group.
The result of passing all these partial tests (e.g. theoretical-, visual- , non destructive-, destructive tests) must be documented in writing and the documents will be checked by the certification agent for completeness and conformity against the applicable standards.
